Description

Born to Wander is my first release, recorded during a half term holiday whilst I was still working as a secondary school teacher in Hackney. Produced by Andy Bell (Hudson Records – whose credits include Karine Polwart, Bellowhead, Martin Simpson), the EP consists of my arrangements of four traditional songs and an original song Born to Wander. Unbeknown at the time, I was about to wander from east London into full-time music making, leaving the classroom behind.
I recall listening to Mike Harding talking about Born to Wander on the BBC Radio 2 Folk Show in 2011, drinking a glass of prosecco and wondering what he would make of it: “Absolutely, totally and completely, brilliant.” I knew then that I had to record more…

Louise Jordan has a voice that seems as though it was created for story songs, clear, expressive, slightly ethereal, definitely other worldly at times, a real delight.
